[Updated] Police Arrested Suspected Serial Molester In Tamarind Square

[Update: More details about the suspect have been revealed. The suspect is a 20-year-old local man who works as a GrabFood delivery rider. The police said he has prior criminal records.]

The police have arrested the suspect believed to be responsible for a series of sexual assaults at Tamarind Square in Cyberjaya today, 6 April.

According to Malaysiakini, Sepang district police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the suspect was picked up this afternoon by a team and he’s now in police custody.

The suspect had molested two victims yesterday (5 April) at Tamarind Square. The first incident involved a 27-year-old personal assistant who was groped on the third floor of the premises’ parking lot while she was putting items in her car around 2pm.

The second incident happened 15 minutes later around 2.15pm involving a 34-year-old woman.

The victim was waiting for an elevator at Level 2 of Block A Tamarind Square when she was hugged and molested from behind by the suspect.

Kamarul Azran added that the police have acquired CCTV recordings from the premises and believe the two attacks were committed by the same suspect.

The police also believe the suspect was responsible for a similar attack in Tamarind Square in December last year.

Kamarul Azran said he’ll hold a press conference soon to reveal more about the current cases.

Update

The Malay Mail reported that the 20-year-old suspect had admitted to being involved in the case and was arrested at Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong around 12.50pm. He’s a local Malaysian and works as a GrabFood delivery rider.

The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outrage of modesty.

According to Kamarul Azran, the suspect arrived at the commercial centre at 1.57pm yesterday on a red Yamaha Lagenda 115 ZR motorcycle. The suspect parked in the basement and was seen walking towards the sidewalk of the centre.

The police also said the suspect had criminal records for motorcycle thefts and possessing stolen goods.
