Members of Parliament from both sides of the political divide will meet on 31 March to iron out their differences with regards to the Anti-Hopping Bill, slated to be tabled in Dewan Rakyat on 11 April.

PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is seeking the opposition MPs’ opinions on the subject.

“Only fine-tuning is needed on several articles or clauses in the bill.

“The prime minister asked for our views and we suggested reactivating the Steering Committee, apart from agreeing to meet on March 31 to fine-tune it,” Saifuddin was quoted as saying by Bernama.

Saifuddin was referring to the 10-men bipartisan Steering Committee for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Transformation and Political Stability.

Last Thursday, de-facto law minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar announced that the Anti-Hopping Bill would be tabled at a special sitting on April 11.

He said that the prime minister has agreed to the special sitting and will extend it if necessary for the MPs to discuss the bill.
