The Pakatan Harapan (PH) bloc announced that it will not dissolve the state legislative assemblies in Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

In a statement issued yesterday, the bloc’s presidential council said that the state government in the three states will run full term until its expiry next year.

“This decision was made after taking into account the people’s economic plight due to the massive floods, the Covid-19 pandemic, lack of income and the rapid rise of living cost.

“The presidential council insists that all efforts should be channelled towards saving the people and reviving the economy,” the statement reads.

The statement was signed by PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, Amanah President Mohamad Sabu and United Progessive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.

On Tuesday, PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang announced that it will not dissolve the legislative assemblies in its controlled states until its expiration date.

Rumours rife that the general election will be called soon after Barisan Nasional (BN) clinched a resounding victory in the recently concluded Johor state election.

Several UMNO leaders, including Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad, had called for a snap poll as PH is struggling to garner support from the rakyat as it previously enjoyed in the 2018 general election.
