The government today announced that the people will be allowed to withdraw a further RM10,000 from their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) savings.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the “difficult decision” was reached taking into consideration the hardship of the people caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Based on studies, findings, and thorough revisions during this recovery phase after the pandemic, there are still those in Malaysian Families that are still impacted by the Covid-19, lost their income, and are still trying to rebuild their lives.
“The government listens, studied and considered the request from all parties to withdraw the EPF savings. Therefore, today, the government has agreed to allow a special EPF withdrawal amounting to RM10,000.
He however advised the people only to make the withdrawal if there is a pressing need.
Further announcement on the matter will be made by the Finance Ministry and EPF, said Ismail.
