A viral video recently showed a woman being surrounded by angry drivers after she rammed almost 10 cars, including a Mercedes Benz, with a stolen Honda City yesterday (17 February).

One of the victims recorded the partial chase on a dashcam and it showed the car thief trying to squeeze her way in between two cars at the Wangsa Maju traffic lights near Setapak Central.

Fortunately, her escape plan did not work and she was sandwiched between the vehicles. The other affected road users surrounded the car to prevent her from escaping.

One of them threw a rock to break the car window and dragged her out of the window. She tried to run away and bit those who tried to restrain her so she was beaten up as well.

Another netizen apparently caught the suspect sniffing glue in the bus before the entire carjacking incident took place.

According to Majoriti, the white Honda City belongs to a husband and wife who were on their way to drop things off for their child at Kolej Vokasional Setapak.

They stopped by the petrol station around 2.30pm. Seeing that they left the engine running, the suspect quickly jumped into the car and drove off.

The husband borrowed a security guard’s motorcycle to get to the nearest police station. However, he found his stolen car and the other road users when he reached the traffic lights.

Wangsa Maju police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said the suspect is 38 years old and has 14 criminal and drug records.

The case will be investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft and Section 279 of the Penal Code for driving recklessly in public.
