The plight of the disabled community continues with the lack of disabled-friendly spaces and facilities.

A video shared by Aman AKL on TikTok demonstrated a man’s daily struggle as a wheelchair-bound person.

The man referred to as Abang Husny by Aman AKL works at a government building in Kuantan as an Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa) officer.

Since the lifts in the building are always spoiled, Abang Husny has no choice but to climb up and down the stairs using his hands just to go to work.

Following close behind him are his colleagues carrying a wheelchair.

Aman AKL shared that Abang Husny refuses help from his colleagues and rather climb the stairs with his bare hands despite the untenable situation.

He added that he hopes that the management of the building will be more mindful and disabled-friendly in the future.

The building’s management apologized

Aman AKL mentioned in the comments section that the building’s management has apologized and promised to look into the lift issue.

Based on a post by Malaysia News Lab, the management of Bangunan Wisma Persekutuan paid a visit to the Pahang Jakoa office to explain and apologize for the inconvenience.

Pahang Jakoa director-general Johari Alwi promised that the problems with the lifts will be fixed as soon as possible.

People in the comments section said they felt touched and hoped all the best for Abang Husny.

Aman AKL thanked them for their good wishes and shared that Abang Husny is highly respected by his colleagues because he’s a much more efficient worker.
