Students who have lost their school textbooks in the floods will get new ones for free from the Ministry of Education.

Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin shared in a Facebook video that the ministry has enough textbooks in storage to replace all the damaged books.

Based on the Ministry of Education’s (KPM) record up till today (Jan 7), a total of 263,662 copies of textbooks were damaged due to floods involving 14,422 students nationwide. KPM has enough stock to replace the damaged books to enable students to follow the PdP session beginning next week.

Radzi added that the students do not have to pay compensation for the damaged books and book replacements.

This announcement comes in time to enable the teaching and learning (PdP) sessions to run smoothly next week.

However, it’s not said how the students will receive the new textbooks.

Since the teachers are tasked to record the number of damaged textbooks, remember to inform your teachers if you need new textbooks for the new school year.
