KPDNHEP has gazetted the Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Test Kits as controlled items to ensure sufficient supply in the market.

To ensure sufficient supply in the market, the government has gazetted the Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kit (self-test) as a controlled item effective 1 December.
Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Enforcement Division director Azman Adam said the test kit is gazetted under the Control of Supplies (Controlled Goods) Order (No.6) 2021 on 24 November which came into force on 1 December.
According to New Straits Times, Azman said the supply of test kits is sufficient in the market and there are no reports of shortages thus far.
The test kits are available at pharmacies and health facilities, and registered premises such as petrol stations, supermarkets, and convenience stores.
Previously, the price for the Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Test Kit has been lowered to RM4.90 per unit.
KPDNHEP would like to remind traders to continue complying with the provisions of the law relating to the Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kit to avoid facing strict action by the Ministry.KPDNHEP Enforcement Division director Azman Adam said in a statement.
Traders who commit offences in relation to the matter can be prosecuted under Section 22 (1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 which carries a penalty of up to RM1,000,000 or face imprisonment for up to two years or both for individuals; and companies can be fined up to RM2,000,000.
