We’ve heard and read stories about happy hikers who were fined for not having a hiking permit.

To prevent an incident like that from happening, it’s best to check whether your group needs to apply for a hiking permit before starting on your outdoor adventure.

You can check the list of hiking spots that require permits by the Selangor Forestry Department.

Here’s how you can apply for the permit:

  1. Visit Selangor Forestry Department’s website.
  2. Click ‘Info Awam.’
  3. Select ‘Gerbang Perkhidmatan Awam.’
  4. Click ‘Muat turun.’
  5. Download the form labelled under ‘Permit.’
  6. Fill the form.

Once you’ve filled the form, remember to make three copies of the form too.

You’ll have to pay RM5 per person at Pejabat Hutan Daerah via post or bank draft under the name of ‘Bendahari Negeri Selangor.’

It’s also advisable to apply for your permit at least 1 week before your hiking date and you can only hike in a group of seven.
