Election Rallies Banned Starting Tomorrow To Curb Covid-19 Spread

The Melaka state election is scheduled to take place on 20 November 2021. Seeing that the number of Covid-19 clusters in Malaysia increased due to the previous elections in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah last year, the Ministry of Health has raised caution about the upcoming public campaigns leading up to the Melaka elections.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Health advised against any activities, gatherings or social events related to the upcoming elections starting on 25 October 2021 until 27 November 2021 to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
The restrictions are in line with the latest list of activities that are not allowed (negative list) in Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan.
If found guilty under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342), any individuals or organisations caught breaking the rules will be asked to pay a compound or face court charges.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin tweeted to say the SPR is going to announce the SOPs for the upcoming elections soon.
