Malaysian women are no strangers to being at the top of their sport. They have brought the nation to the winner’s podium in squash, karate, bowling, swimming, diving and wushu, just to name a few.

During the National Sports Day (HSN) 2021 celebration at the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob launched the Action Plan on Women in Sports.

The action plan will include a Talent Identification and Development Programme (MyTID) and formulation of the National Sports Industry Action Plan.

The Action Plan on Women in Sports is formulated to make the development of national sports more inclusive and balanced.

The government had allocated RM10 million to ensure the success of the action plan which contained five thrusts, eight objectives, 19 strategies and 45 initiatives.

To ensure that the implementation of the plan goes smoothly, a 15-member Women in Sports Committee has been set up. It consists of representatives from the ministry, sports bodies, former athletes, and experienced individuals.
