Proton e.MAS has surpassed 20,000 vehicle sales in less than seven months, highlighting strong Malaysian acceptance towards the national carmaker’s EV models.
In the first half of 2026, Proton e.MAS captured 42.6% of Malaysia’s electric vehicle (EV) market and 41.8% of the xEV segment, reinforcing its position as a leading player in the country’s rapidly expanding electrified mobility landscape.
The achievement was driven by strong demand across its growing lineup, rather than relying on a single model.
The Proton e.MAS 7 remained the brand’s best-selling model, contributing 15.8% of total sales, while the more affordable Proton e.MAS 5 accounted for 60.9%, reflecting increasing interest among Malaysians seeking accessible electric mobility solutions.
Meanwhile, the newly introduced Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV quickly gained momentum, making up 23.3% of total sales as consumers embraced a vehicle that combines electric driving efficiency with the flexibility of longer-distance travel.
The sales performance underscores growing consumer confidence in Proton e.MAS and its ambition to make electric mobility more practical, accessible and relevant for everyday Malaysians.
“Every milestone begins with the trust of our customers. Surpassing 20,000 vehicle sales in less than seven months would not have been possible without the confidence and unwavering support of Malaysians who have chosen Proton e.MAS.
“On behalf of everyone at PRO-NET, we extend our sincere gratitude to every customer who has placed their trust in us. This achievement belongs as much to them as it does to us,” said PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang said in a statement.
PRO-NET is a wholly owned subsidiary of Proton.
Moving forward, Proton remains committed to supporting the Malaysian government’s low-carbon mobility agenda by making electrified vehicles more accessible while contributing towards the objectives of the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) and National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
Through PRO-NET, Proton will continue expanding its e.MAS ecosystem by introducing more products, strengthening customer experience, and growing its dealership, service and charging network nationwide.
With a wider range of electrified vehicles catering to different consumer needs, Proton aims to accelerate EV adoption while supporting Malaysia’s long-term transition towards sustainable mobility.
