Tourism Malaysia and MYDIN have launched a new campaign that hopes to encourage more Malaysians to travel around the country while rewarding them for shopping local.
Called Jom Jalan MYDIN, the initiative is part of the lead-up to the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, combining domestic tourism with shopping experiences and support for Malaysian-made products. The campaign will be rolled out at selected MYDIN outlets nationwide.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the public-private partnership is expected to strengthen domestic tourism by encouraging more Malaysians to explore local destinations while discovering products and attractions from across the country.
Meanwhile, MYDIN Managing Director Datuk Wira Dr. Ameer Ali Mydin said the retailer wants its stores to be more than just places to shop, but also spaces where customers can experience and appreciate products from local entrepreneurs and SMEs.

One of the campaign’s highlights is a Treasure Hunt activity at selected MYDIN outlets, where participants will complete challenges while discovering tourism attractions in a more interactive way. The campaign will also offer prizes including domestic travel packages, cruise experiences, hotel stays sponsored by Tabung Haji Travel, as well as vouchers and other rewards worth more than RM5 million throughout the campaign period.
According to Mohd Akbal Setia, Tourism Malaysia’s Senior Director of Digital and Advertising / Head of Secretariat of Visit Malaysia 2026, the collaboration is also aimed at boosting shopping tourism, which remains an important contributor to Malaysia’s domestic tourism economy. Besides encouraging travel, the campaign is expected to benefit local retailers, hospitality businesses, transport operators, food and beverage outlets, as well as homegrown entrepreneurs ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026.
“The involvement of partners such as Sunway Lagoon, Lost World of Tambun, and Setel has further enlivened the Treasure Hunt activities held at selected MYDIN branches.
“This interactive activity not only offers customers a unique “Shop, Win & Go” experience, but the campaign also features a wide range of prizes, vouchers, and savings with a total value exceeding RM5 million,” said Akbal.

Beyond the Visit Malaysia 2026 collaborative campaign, MYDIN is also currently running a purchase-with-purchase (PWP) initiative until 2 August 2026.
A minimum purchase of RM100 in one receipt entitles customers to selected food and household products at lower prices, Spending an extra RM69 in the same receipt will earn Mydin Meriah members 500 points.
