Cantik the stray cat has made the Wangsa Maju LRT station her home for years. Commuters love seeing her during their daily travels, and some stop to treat her to snacks and show her some love.
On 30 May, Threads user @annisa_kl_my noticed Cantik having what looked like an ear infection. She managed to take Cantik to the vet on 2 June after speaking to a staff member.
Annisa shared that Cantik walked into the pet carrier on her own. According to the vet, Cantik’s health was all good except the ears. The cat also received the deworming medication and is vaccinated.
Annisa returned Cantik to the station and passed the health record card to a staff member for safekeeping.
Another Threads user @pherbies who came across Annisa’s post also enquired if anyone could assist and bring Cantik to a vet. She was willing to do it herself if anyone was willing to chip in to cover the medical costs as well.
Some Threads users encouraged @pherbies to adopt Cantik so that the cat can retire with grace. However, it was alleged that a staff member prevented that from happening.
This made some people upset because they believe Cantik would receive much better care at a forever home than living with lack of care at the station.
In one of the posts, @pherbies confirmed that Cantik will remain at the station and shared that she passed the donated funds totalling RM37 to a staff member to fund the cat’s health needs. She reminded the public not to give Cantik any cat treats due to her old age.
Cantik’s second vet visit
After talking to a staff member, @pherbies wanted to bring Cantik to the vet again but initially couldn’t find her. After some effort, they managed to find the cat and she was taken to a vet again where she is now warded for treatment. @pherbies promised that she’ll return Cantik to the station if the cat gets stressed in a new environment.
She shared that she brought Cantik home for awhile in 2023/2024, but the cat didn’t like being indoors and wouldn’t eat. Cantik was kidnapped from the station in 2025 and is likely still suffering from trauma.
The vet shared that Cantik has low blood glucose and a serious skin condition. Fortunately, Cantik tested negative for Parvo and FIP.
As such, Cantik will stay at the vet until Thursday under supervision because she had to be force fed. Cantik wouldn’t eat on her own.
On Friday, Cantik will be transferred to another vet clinic where it might become her forever home. This decision is seen as the best way forward for Cantik’s longterm health.
The Threads user said she will continue to visit and supervise Cantik every two days for the first month and every week after that. She emphasised that the current plan for Cantik may change down the road. For the moment, getting Cantik a ‘permanent’ home is the best for her health.
