30 years of Pokemon, can you believe it? The franchise started as games on the Nintendo Game Boy in 1996 and got the world bent on catching all 151 Pokemon. It’s mind blowing to think that there are over 1,000 Pokemon now!
To celebrate the incredible milestone, Pokemon is hosting events across the globe and invites current Trainer and longtime fans to return to the beloved world.
Fortunately, Malaysia isn’t missing out on these events.
What are the two Pokemon events in Malaysia?
From 12 to 13 September, Pokemon is holding PokeXciting, described as the biggest Pokemon Party in Asia.
According to the official Pokemon site, fans are advised to stay tuned to official pages for announcements regarding this.
The interactive run features a partner Pokemon who will run together with you. Together you’ll go through an obstacle course at the Pokemon Gym to prove you’re a worthy trainer.
Participants also get to fill their Pokedex by meeting different Pokemon along the route and collecting special stickers. Once at the finish line, they’ll get to evolve with their partner Pokemon.
The post-run celebration will be held at the Festival Zone. Here, trainers get to unwind, mingle, and even shop at the special Pokemon pop-up store. The immersive experience includes visiting the Pokemon Time Tunnel, watching the Pikachu Parade and Meet & Greet, play the trading card games at the Pokemon Experience Zone, and take plenty of photos of the whole experience.
The details for the Pokemon RUN will be announced on official sites and social media platforms when the time is near.
New flashy cards to commemorate the anniversary
Last but not least, the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) is releasing futuristic rare cards in its 30th Celebration expansion. These new, shiny foil cards will be available globally on 16 September 2026.
The 30th Celebration booster pack includes one of 30 different Pikachu cards illustrated by various artists like OKACHEKE, Yuu Nishida, and Atsuko Nishida.
