If you’re passing through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 anytime soon, don’t be surprised if you run into a larger-than-life LEGO pilot just chilling there.

He’s not real, obviously.

But he’s not exactly a toy either—just standing there in his uniform with that blocky LEGO smile, looking like he’s about to welcome you to something cool.

This is all part of a new collaboration between LEGO and Malaysia Airports called “Let’s Go Malaysia 2026.”

They’ve basically built a mini LEGO airport inside the real airport, complete with tiny check-in counters, baggage carousels, and even gate signs.

The whole thing runs until 30 June, timed to coincide with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, the government’s big push to attract more tourists.

Malaysian Landmarks, But Make It LEGO

The installation features iconic Malaysian buildings and landmarks, all recreated using LEGO bricks.

Think Petronas Twin Towers, cultural symbols, and other famous spots—except now they’re small enough to fit on a table and made entirely from those colourful plastic blocks we all grew up with.

It’s basically Malaysia’s greatest hits, LEGO edition.

While it sounds like a kids’ thing, LEGO has been going hard after adult fans lately with fancy architecture sets and nostalgic builds.

This campaign is no different—they’re targeting both families with restless children and grown-ups who secretly (or not-so-secretly) still love LEGO.

There’s even a pop-up store by luxury goods and 360° retail specialist, Valiram, selling travel-friendly LEGO sets like suitcases and planes, plus those small builds you can do on a long flight when you’re bored.

A mini departure board displays international flights while the pop-up store advertises travel-themed sets with freebies. Spend RM179 for a free plane set, or go big at RM600 for a ferris wheel and passport holder—because why not? (Pix: Fernando Fong)

Got Promotions Some More

Spend RM179, and you get a free Iconic Red Plane set.

Spend RM600, and you walk away with a Celebration Ferris Wheel and a LEGO Passport Holder.

The kind of deal that makes you think, “Eh, maybe I should just buy more LEGO.”

If you’re already at KLIA with time to kill before your flight, why not?

It’s free to look at, fun for photos, and honestly beats staring at the departure board for an hour.

Plus, how often do you get to see your country recreated in LEGO bricks?
