Entrepreneur and food influencer Khairul Aming is proving that success doesn’t come without sacrifice.

Sometimes, it comes with just two hours of sleep.

Just two days after launching his highly anticipated restaurant, Rembayung, Khairul was spotted dozing off at a table, phone still in hand.

The candid moment was shared by a Threads user, who gently reminded the content creator to take care of himself after pouring so much energy into his latest venture.

The post quickly caught attention, with netizens chiming in with a mix of concern and admiration.

Some urged Khairul to get more rest, while others joked that even his nap looked productive. Many also praised his perseverance, noting how he remained upbeat despite criticism and skepticism surrounding the restaurant before its opening.

And it’s not hard to see why he’s exhausted.

Just a few days ago, Khairul admitted he only got two hours of sleep when addressing concerns about his reservation system. When it opened on Monday night at 9pm, the traffic was so high that the platform he used for booking crashed.

This is because the restaurant is not operating on a walk-in basis, instead it is fully reservation-based.

Khairul apologised for the inconvenience and assured customers that improvements would be made.

Khairul previously explained that Rembayung is fully reservation-based for now because he wanted to prevent people from forming long lines outside his restaurant just to get a table.

What is Rembayung?

Rembayung, an 8,000-square-foot full-service restaurant located in Kampung Baru, opened to overwhelming demand.

Specialising in traditional Malay kampung cuisine, the restaurant serves familiar favourites such as masak lemak cili api, sambal udang, ayam kicap, tempoyak, along with an array of traditional kuih and desserts.

So, love him or criticise him, one thing is clear: Khairul Aming is putting his heart (and sleep schedule) into making Rembayung a success.

Rembayung opens from 11am to 11pm (closed on Fridays).
