When Contemporary Calligraphy Meets Streetwear Culture, CNY Gets A Serious Glow-up

Forget the generic red-and-gold everything.

This Chinese New Year, Tiger Beer is coming in hot with a festive collection that feels less “your uncle’s CNY decor” and more “I’d actually display this in my home.”

The theme? 敢敢冲 (Dare to Charge Forward)—basically, Tiger’s way of saying “step into 2026 with confidence, ambition, and good vibes.” And they’re backing it up with collectibles that blend traditional CNY energy with contemporary Asian creativity that doesn’t feel forced.

Tiger’s teamed up with Malaysian contemporary calligraphy artist Jameson Yap, whose signature River Stroke (流書) technique bridges heritage with modern design.

The result? A collection of ceramic plates, mugs, and yes, a full-on four-player mahjong set, each featuring Yap’s custom calligraphy.

The plates and mugs come in five CNY-themed designs, including a mystery edition for those who love the thrill of the blind box hunt.

Tokyo Streetwear Enters the Chat

These aren’t your typical “use once and shove in the back of the cabinet” festive items – they’re designed to be seen, shared, and actually remembered beyond the reunion dinner.

But wait—there’s more.

Tiger’s also continuing its collaboration with atmos, the Tokyo-based streetwear label that’s been a major player in Asian sneaker and street culture.

This year, they’re dropping the first-ever Tiger x atmos Poker Set, merging street-style sensibility with CNY tradition.

It’s a streetwear-inspired twist on a festive classic and a teaser for a wider Tiger x atmos collaboration dropping later in the season.

How to Get Your Hands on the Goods

Tiger’s rolling out different collectibles and prizes across various channels, so here’s the breakdown:

Tiger Beer isn’t playing around this CNY—138 lucky winners will walk away with 10g of 999.9 fine gold worth over RM6,200. It’s the kind of angpow that makes charging forward into 2026 feel extra auspicious. (Pix: Tiger Beer Malaysia)

The Vibe: Tradition Meets Now

What makes this year’s Tiger CNY campaign work is that it doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard.

The collaboration with Yap brings genuine artistic credibility, while the atmos partnership taps into the streetwear culture that’s already huge across Asia.

It’s CNY, but make it contemporary.

It’s tradition, but with a modern edge.

And honestly? It’s refreshing to see a festive campaign that respects heritage while acknowledging that younger consumers want collectibles with personality, not just generic red packaging.

Whether you’re into calligraphy art, streetwear culture, or just really need a new mahjong set that doesn’t look like it came from 1987, Tiger’s got something in the mix.
