If you have been living in Kuala Lumpur all your life and think that there’s not much to see in the city, you might want to take a closer look.
Maxis has introduced Explore With Maxis, a new city exploration programme created in collaboration with Think City, and TRP had the opportunity to join a preview of the experience. The initiative offers the public a chance to rediscover the historical heart of Kuala Lumpur through an interactive heritage bus tour.

Explore With Maxis brings participants through stories, restored heritage sites, and lesser-known corners of Old Kuala Lumpur — areas revived under the Warisan KL initiative, a nationwide cultural preservation effort. The experience is specially curated for Maxis prepaid and postpaid customers and will run on 20–21 December 2025, as well as 3–4 January 2026.

Maxis users can register their interest through the Maxis app, selecting their preferred date and time. The tour begins at Menara Maxis, Kuala Lumpur, before making stops at five key locations around the city.
These include the Dataran Merdeka Heritage Area, Masjid Jamek Observation Deck, Warung Old China, Else Retreat, and the iconic Merdeka 118 tower. A double-deck open-top tour bus will ferry participants between locations, offering unobstructed views and historical context on Kuala Lumpur’s early 20th-century development.

Alongside an onboard tour guide, Maxis has equipped the experience with smart audio accessories that provide additional background information as the bus passes various landmarks. Each stop along the route will also feature QR codes that can be scanned via the Maxis app, specifically through the Miya AI assistant, which will guide participants and reward them with a special gift at the end of the experience.

Beyond fielding questions about Maxis products and services, Miya is also able to provide information about the city’s heritage sites through text-based conversations.
Maxis says that bookings for the tour are already open and filling up quickly. It remains unclear whether additional sessions will be added once the current slots are fully taken.
