Ongoing Events

1. Malaysia Thailand Halal Food Festival @ SACC Mall, Shah Alam (10 – 19 Feb, 11 am – 11.30 pm)

At the Malaysia Thailand Halal Food Festival (MATHAF), you’ll find various Thai cuisine that you’ve been craving. Fried baby crabs, mango sticky rice, Thai teas, LokChing, Thai laksa, coconut sticky rice ice cream and many more!

Mathaf moves to various places in the Klang valley regularly, so do check out their Facebook to keep up to date.

2. Poetic Spring Garden (Art Installation) @ Kwai Chai Hong (6 Jan – 12 Feb, 9 am – 12 am)

This CNY, Kwai Chai Hong is decorated with spring blooms and romanized Chinese calligraphy, set to be deciphered by the public. The Poetic Spring Garden is filled with oversized blossoms and foliage as well as traditional Chinese calligraphy in a bold and non-conventional way.

3. Masters of Disguise (Photography Exhibition) @ Darkroom Gallery, GMBB (Extended till 30 April 2023, 11 am – 6 pm)

Biologist, guide and wildlife photographer Chien C. Lee’s latest photography exhibit focuses on the art of deception used by wildlife. This exhibit features more than 60 fantastic photos of various kinds of camouflage and mimicry employed by insects, reptiles, birds, and even plants; with many species hailing from Malaysia’s very own Sabah and Sarawak.

According to GMBB, this exhibition is just so mesmerizing and immersive that it’s extended until 30 April 2023.

4. Hep Ka-Wot Enggang Le-Wei (Photography Exhibition) @ Gerimis Gallery, GMBB (Extended til 23 Feb 2023, 11 am – 6 pm)

Just an update, according to GMBB, this sought-after exhibition is also extended until 23 February 2023.

This exhibition of forests, hornbills and honey highlights how the Orang Asli of Jahai and Temiar from the Belum-Temenggor Forests in Perak protect the hornbills for their roles as farmers of the forest.

Apart from talks and photographs of nature, you can also buy Orang Asli arts and crafts there.

5. Bakul – Everyday Baskets From Sabah (Exhibition & Market) @ GoDownKL (7 Jan – 23 Feb, 12 pm – 7 pm)

This 7-week-long exhibition showcases the Bakul collection of Sabahan author and collector Jennifer P. Linggi. From materials such as rattan, bamboo, bemban, mengkuang and many more sourced from the fierce jungle, indulge in Jennifer P Linggi’s breathtaking world of Bakul.

6. The World Of DC Exhibition @ Tropicana Gardens Hall Convention Centre (23 Dec – 1 Apr)

Being the first-ever DC Exhibition launch in Asia, The World Of DC Exhibition will feature interactive games, life-seized exhibits, behind-the-scene concept art, limited-edition merchandise and more at the Tropicana Gardens Mall.

7. Van Gogh Alive Exhibition @ Pavillion Bukit Jalil (17 Dec – 16 March, 10 am – 10 pm)

Witness Van Gogh’s legendary works of art displayed digitally at Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Get ready for a multi-sensory experience with a symphony of light, colour, sound and fragrance for you there.

8. Red Hongyi’s ‘Once Upon A Longtang’ (Art Exhibition) @ National Art Gallery (22 Dec – 22 March, 9 am – 5 pm)

The Balai Seni Negara has a new art installation called Once Upon A Longtang which features scenes inspired by old alleyway houses – or ‘Longtang’ houses in Shanghai. The installation has a series of artworks displayed with burnt Chinese calligraphy paper and more.

Here are specific events to enjoy with your family and friends on FridaySaturday, and Sunday.

10 February (Friday)

1. Kamya Festival 2023 @ Stadium Bukit Jalil (10 – 12 Feb, 10 am – 10 pm)

Kamya Fest is one of the largest cultural events that inspire millennials in Malaysia.

As this is a big festival, tons of activities will be held including a Bundle Expo, Kopi Expo, Food Festival, Carnival Fun Zone, Classic Car Showcase, Urban Plant Showcase, Ace Crew Motorsport, Basketball Tournament and many more.

Local celebrities and influencers like Dolla, Alif Satar, Nabila Huda, Azfar Heri, Aliyah and tons more will be there to perform and meet you guys too.

2. Bundle Expo @ Stadium Bukit Jalil (10 – 12 Feb, 10 am – 10 pm)

Love shopping for vintage pre-loved items and streetwear bundle outfits? Well, wait no more, Bundle Expo is happening again this weekend at Stadium Bukit Jalil, part of Kamya Fest’s main attraction.

3. Blue Heart And Soul Tour (Concert) @ Plenary Hall, KLCC (8 pm)

As part of their 20th anniversary ‘Heart & Soul’ tour, British boy band Blue consisting of members Simon Webbe, Duncan James, Antony Costa and Lee Ryan will be performing all their greatest hits & songs from their new album tonight.

They’re known for songs like One LoveAll RiseIf You Come BackSorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word Ft Elton John and many more.

4. Yesterday Once More 4 (Oldies Cabaret) @ KLPAC (9 – 11 February, 8 pm, 3 pm)

If you love music from the 40s to 70s, you should head on to KLPAC this week to enjoy their popular cabaret series called Yesterday Once More 4.

Bring your partner along to enjoy covers of the greatest crooners and soul singers such as these – The Platters, Joni Mitchell, Louis Armstrong, Bee Gees, Shirley Bassey, Nat King Cole, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin and the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley.

5. Krusty At Atas Angin Rock Show (Rock Concert) @ Angkasa Event Space (8 pm)

This is not just any regular Atas Angin rock show, this is a hardcore rock show featuring Kru$ty as their main act. Two-step your way to the core of the music and circle around in the hardest and most reckless mosh pit you guys could imagine!

6. Little Sweeties (Valentine’s & Dessert Market) @ Central Market (10 – 12 Feb, 10 am – 8 pm)

Wanna buy something for your girl this Valentine’s? This weekend, Central Market will have some of the sweetest deals for the love of your life.

Surprise her and make her jump with glee at Central Market with a variety of clothes, accessories, food, and many more. There will also be busking sessions and workshops like candle making, clay and paint art.

7. Dave Thompson (Comedy Show) @ The Joke Factory (8.30 pm)

Dave Thompson is a standup comedian who has performed internationally. Known for his one-liners and absurd persona, Dave has written material for many other comics, including Harry Hill, Ronnie Corbett, Bruce Forsyth, Omid Djalili, and Stewart Lee and is known as the actor for Tinky Winky on the television show “Teletubbies”.

11 & 12 February (Saturday & Sunday)

1. Charles The French Singing Funny (Musical Comedy Show) @ The Joke Factory (11 Feb, 3 pm, 8.30 pm)

Charles The French is primarily known for his funny videos posted on Youtube made with his friend Tada, currently with almost 2 million subscribers.

Now, he is back again at The Joke Factory with “Singing Funny Asia Tour” on the 11th of February 2023 with two shows at 3 pm and 8:30 pm. He’ll be performing his best comedy songs and comedy skits on stage.

2. Eternal Love (Oil Painting Exhibition) @ 3A Floor, GMBB (28 Jan – 12 Feb, 11 am – 8 pm)

If you’re a fan of oil paintings (or roses!), Master Yap Hong Ngee’s exhibition is made for you! Featuring more than 100 pieces of oil paintings on roses painted over 30 years, this exhibition is a celebration of love and romance.

The best part about this is that admission is free! So ask your date out on a romantic art gallery date this weekend.

3. Valentine’s Sunny Side Up Market @ Slate, The Row KL (11 – 12 Feb, 11 am – 6 pm)

Sunny Side Up is a curated community market-based in sunny Kuala Lumpur. This season of love, they’re doing a Valentine-themed market.

Find everything from food to fashion, accessories, beauty, wellness, home decor, souvenirs, pet-friendly products and more to pamper yourself or your loved ones this Valentine’s Day.

4. Hip Hop Night (Hip Hop Concert) @ The Back Ground, KL (11 Feb, 8.30 pm)

REXKL & Kokadaimon proudly presents another round of Hip Hop Night at RexKL! This time, enjoy hip-hop beats from local artists such as Qalifff, Mani Fazelii, Mad MVZ, Ayana, and many more. Get ready, the gang is about to bring the house down with some new tracks too!

5. Paint A 3D Bouquet For Your Valentine @ MTMT Studios, PJ (12 Feb, 2 pm – 5 pm)

If you don’t have plans this weekend, why not release your inner Picasso? Go to several art workshops such as pottery, painting, tie-dye and more at MTMT Studios in PJ. Besides a Paint A 3D Bouquet workshop this Sunday, they also have a Speed Dating & Paint session this Saturday at WXYZ Bar in Aloft KL.
