The world today showcases everyone’s highlight reels, but rarely what goes on behind the scenes. We set big goals and aspirations for ourselves but as we scroll through our social media feeds, we start to feel like we’ll never match up to those who have already tasted victory and are living the life of their dreams.

We feed ourselves doubts, insecurities, and pessimistic thoughts. Do we abandon the journey? Are the small steps going to pay off?

An old Chinese proverb says: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

It is important to look at the big picture. But the puzzle is formed with a thousand small pieces.

Success breeds success

Before you start doubting how far you’ve come, take a moment to reflect on how your series of small wins is empowering and that the effort you put in contributes towards your progress in achieving your goals.

No matter what you believe in, small, consistent steps add up. Taking small steps creates valuable habits that will help us to achieve big things in life.

Take fitness for example – if you set your alarm at 5.30 a.m. for a run and you’re not naturally a morning person, you probably would never be able to do it. But, you can manage waking up at least 10 minutes earlier than usual. And if you keep doing that, you’ll eventually get to a point where you’re putting running shoes on at 5.30 a.m. everyday.

The small step you take requires determination and discipline. And the harder you work those muscles in the mundane things of your life, you’ll put ‘em into play for bigger, bolder dreams.

What are the small wins you can celebrate?

Watch ‘The Boldest Chase’ by Tiger on YouTube.
