Rentak Bumi 2.0 is an exciting multicultural dance celebration of contemporary, traditional and modern dances by three of Malaysia’s prominent dance companies. it’s set to explore Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity and dance heritage and will be performed by some of the best dancers in the country.

What’s Rentak Bumi?

During the Covid lockdowns, the three dance companies featured 6 virtual dance presentations under the title Rentak Bumi. These online presentations were a part of Arts For All Seasons (ArtsFAS), an initiative of Yayasan Hasanah where they combined three prominent Malaysian dance companies and created a beautiful array of different local dances that would captivate each and every Malaysian.

The dances were created by Artistic Directors, Datuk Ramli Ibrahim from Sutra Foundation, Zaridah Abdul Mallik from DiDance, and Anthony Meh & Aman Yap from Dua Space Dance Theatre.

The virtual event succeeded in bringing national and international awareness to the rich diversity of Malaysian dance during the challenging pandemic period.

They’re back for the second round

This year, under the continual support of ArtsFAS 2022, the three dance companies will once again come together to bring you live performances of different local dances in Rentak Bumi 2.0.

There will also be a special lecture demonstration entitled Behind the Making of Rentak Bumi to connect with those who love the dancing arts. Both performing art students and the public combined can learn the behind-the-scenes efforts that the three companies have poured their hearts out to. The lecture demonstration session will be done before the last performance on the last day of the event, 18 December 2022.

On behalf of Sutra Foundation, Dua Space Dance Theatre and DiDance, we invite you to witness the splendour of Malay, Chinese and Indian dance flavours, spanning traditional to modern dance at Rentak Bumi 2.0.

We also welcome students of performing arts to the specially put-together sharing session with the artistic directors behind the creative minds in making the dance pieces in Rentak Bumi.

This dance extravaganza is one not to be missed by art enthusiasts and the Malaysian public in general as we close the year 2022.
