The Recycling & Buy Back Center (RBBC) in IPC mall is one of the best recycling points that is easily accessible right in PJ.

The recycling center is located in the parking lot of the mall, but it is easily found via signage and the bright white lights within.

The best part is the convenience. It’s super easy to just park and drop off your recyclables. Then, you can leave immediately or hang around the mall (since you’re there already!)

Their new face lift sees a fully glass exterior and extremely clear and concise instructions on how to recycle.

So how does it work?

First, you should sort your recyclables at home. The categories are cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, aluminium, drink cartons, and textiles. They even accept frozen food waste (which must be packed tightly and securely)!

There are also other categories for donation, such as glass, electronics, medicine, light bulbs but these will not count towards your reward points.

Then, bring your recyclables to the RBBC. (Just follow the signage in the parking lot!)

The app is not strictly necessary

You will be asked to download and use the IPC app while dropping off your recyclables, but it’s actually not strictly necessary to operate.

The IPC app is very useful, however. Sure, it gives you points that you can redeem for useful things like parking and vouchers, but more importantly it tracks how much you have recycled based on weight and category.

To keep track, simply scan your QR code from the app at the category of choice. This is how RBBC tracks the weight of your donations.

Then, slide your recyclables through the slot. Be gentle with fragile items like glass and light bulbs, otherwise they will break.

When you’re done, just mark yourself as done on the app.

Repeat this for each category. Trust us, it is actually faster and more seamless than you think!

The results of your recycling efforts will be credited to your app within 24 hours, together with a breakdown of how much you have recycled in weight and by category. You will also get TACK points which you can exchange for parking, vouchers, or more.

Of course, you can choose to skip using the app entirely. If you’re in a rush or do not want your recyclables tracked, just drop all your recyclables into the appropriate slot. That’s it.

How easy is it?

If you live nearby or are planning a visit to IKEA anyway (for the meatballs, right?), the RBBC is particularly convenient simply due to its location.

You don’t need to drive to a specific recycling center or haul large bags of recyclables around a shopping mall. If you were already in the area or had plans to visit the mall, it’s easy to drop by and get it recycled quickly before you continue with errands.

So, will you be recycling this weekend?
