If you don’t know what malls are connected by the train stations, worry not, we got you.

Here’s a list of the malls and point of interest spots that are accessible via our public transportation. Some of the malls are literally RIGHT THERE malls where taking public transportation IS easier than driving and finding parking.

But do keep in mind that some of these are within a short walking distance (below 5 mins) and some are a bit far away (max 15 mins walking distance according to Google Maps).

Here are the places categorized according to train lines.

KL Monorail

These attractions are all within a 5-minute walking distance.

If you guys are not familiar with this rail line, the KL Monorail line is built to connect KL Sentral to the KL’s Golden Triangle. KL’s Golden Triangle (areas in between Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Imbi, and Jalan Raja Chulan roads) is an area for commercial shopping and entertainment.

This railroad is for those who wanna have fun but travel via public transportation, that’s why most of the places here are only around a 5-minute walk.

A little tip

LRT Sri Petaling and LRT Ampang are a bit confusing sometimes because they use the same tracks when they merge at Chan Sow Lin station until Sentul Timur station.

For these stations, you’ll have two alternating trains, one for the Ampang line and one for Sri Petaling Line. You can alight on whichever train you wanna travel within the Chan Sow Lin & Sentul Timur stations (e.g. Masjid Jamek, Hang Tuah, Bandaraya).

But if you want to travel separately towards Ampang (e.g. Maluri, Pandan Indah, Cahaya) or towards Putra Heights (e.g. Bandar Tasik Selatan, Bukit Jalil, IOI Puchong Jaya), do take note of the name of the train you’re boarding. If you’re heading to Bandar Tasik Selatan and the train in front of you spells Ampang, wait for the next train, that one will be the Sri Petaling one, and vice versa.

Let’s continue:

LRT Ampang

  • PWTC – Sunway Putra Mall
  • Bandaraya – SOGO Mall
  • Masjid Jamek – Dataran Merdeka (10 mins walk)
  • Plaza Rakyat – UTC Pudu (5 mins walk), REX KL (5 mins walk)
  • Hang Tuah – Lalaport Bukit Bukit Bintang City Centre
  • Pudu – Kenanga Wholesale City (15 mins walk), Pudu Plaza Mall (10 mins walk)
  • Miharja – Viva Mall (10 mins walk)
  • Maluri – Aeon Maluri (10 mins walk), Sunway Velocity (10 mins walk)
  • Pandan Indah – Fiesta Mall @ Axis Pandan

LRT Sri Petaling

  • PWTC – Sunway Putra Mall
  • Bandaraya – SOGO Mall
  • Masjid Jamek – Dataran Merdeka (10 mins walk)
  • Plaza Rakyat – UTC Pudu (5 mins walk), REX KL (5 mins walk)
  • Hang Tuah – Lalaport Bukit Bukit Bintang City Centre
  • LRT Bukit Jalil – Axiata Arena (15 mins walk), National Bukit Jalil Stadium (10 mins walk)
  • IOI Puchong Jaya – IOI Mall Puchong (5 mins walk)

MRT Kajang

  • Surian – Tropicana Gardens Mall (5 mins walk)
  • Mutiara Damansara – The Curve & IPC (10 mins walk), Ikea Damansara (10 mins walk)
  • Bandar Utama – 1 Utama Shopping Centre (10 mins walk)
  • Muzium Negara – National Museum
  • Pasar Seni – Central Market (10 mins walk), Petaling Street (5 mins walk), REX KL (10 mins walk)
  • Bukit Bintang – Sungei Wang, Lot 10, Fahrenheit 88, Pavilion
  • Cochrane – MyTown, Ikea Cheras (10 mins walk)
  • Maluri – Aeon Maluri (10 mins walk), Sunway Velocity (10 mins walk)
  • Taman Mutiara – EkoCheras Mall, Cheras Leisure Mall (15 mins walk)
  • Taman Connaught – Cheras Sentral Mall
1 Utama Shopping Mall.

KTM Batu Caves – Sebang

  • KL Sentral – NU Sentral
  • Mid Valley – Mid Valley Megamall, The Gardens Mall (5 mins walk), KL Eco City (10 mins walk)

Although we don’t really recommend using KTM (because it takes so long), you can count on the LRT to be the quickest train ride. MRT takes a bit longer than LRT but it is nicer and newer.

PS: If you wanna go to Sunway Pyramid or Sunway Lagoon via public transportation, you can take the BRT. These buses have a dedicated elevated route, so they are quite fast and consistent.

However, it goes without saying that one fact remains while using public transportation. You have to walk. A LOT. And sometimes, the escalators or lifts don’t work so parents with strollers, be warned.

Whether it’s public transportation or your own car, just be warned that some of these malls will be crowded during weekends and public holidays, so you just need to brace yourselves for the crowd.

So, will you be taking the train instead?
