Nights of Fright (NOF8) is back for the 8th time in Sunway Lagoon this year after a two-year hiatus from the pandemic. This year, they’re coming back with a ‘Lycan’ theme so what does that mean? Werewolves!

NOF8 brings back 8 haunted houses, 1 haunted theatre, 2 scare zones, 11 thrill rides and 3 show stages this year. The haunted festival was launched on 30 September and is now ready for the public every weekend (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) until the 31st of October.

We got a chance to experience the scary night filled with creepy ghosts and ghouls at 8 of their haunted houses and 1 haunted theatre. You’ll see werewolves, ghost couples, pocong, Pennywise, plague doctors and many more.

There’s just one simple rule though, you can’t touch any of the ghosts, and they won’t touch you. They’ll try to scare the heck outta you (try to hit you, get close to your face, and stare you down to oblivion), but don’t worry, they won’t lay a finger on you (it’s all just acting guys!).

Here are the places that you need to look forward to:

1. Lycan – The Werewolves of London!

If you don’t see werewolves here, you’re probably at the wrong place. This haunted house is crawling with werewolves, waiting to scare you with every chance they get.

It’s set in the Victorian England era, circa 1872, where you’ll enter the house of Wallace Keating, a werewolf hunter. Watch out for random howling for this one.

2. The Harvest

In this house, you’ll find an unforgiving wasteland at the end of the world. The humans in this house are all void and lifeless.

It’s a bit of a journey for this one but it’s quite worth it. Hang on tight to your group of friends and don’t get snatched by the scarecrows.

3. The Hotel Deville

If you’re into haunted hotels, we suggest you try this one. You can check in but you might not check out.

AirB&B? More like Scare B&B!

4. Lucha Libre in UV3D

You gotta brace yourselves and wrestle with the Mexican fighters for this one. Aim for the face! Kidding.

But you are going to see an underground wrestling match. Not just a regular wrestling match, a match in 3D!

5. Sharknado / Darknado

If you’ve heard about Sharknado (a movie about sharks lunging out from a cyclone), you should look forward to this one.

Because of the blackout and emergency lighting, you’ll see glimpses of sharks on set here. But are they sharks though? Take a good look.

6. Zombie Hunters

The hungry and fierce zombies are on the loose and the Zombie SWAT team is trying their best to contain them.

Get yourself out of there before they get to you!

7. 99 Doors @ Scarytales Theater

This theatre has a creepy background story to it. The team even went to the famous 99 Doors Mansion in Nibong Tebal in Penang, a home for the unsolved murder of John Saint Maur Ramsden on his Byram Estate in 1948.

You’ll get to experience a very ‘real’ theatre that’ll get you hooked on your seats. There’s also rumour of a celebrity playing a character here. Enjoy the show!

8. HorrorWood Studios

How do you feel about the house of wax? Are you ready to face the iconic characters like Billy, Pennywise and Ghost Face coming to life?

They might look like a wax doll, but you gotta check twice. Did that thing just move?

9. Blood.Shed.2

Inspired by ‘Wolf Creek’, this gory attraction is back, bloodier than ever.

Get ready to see some limbs and body parts being torn apart by the cannibalistic butcher!

Among all the haunted houses, we totally recommend The Harvest and the 99 Doors @ Scary Tales.

In our honest opinion, if you’re a fan of horror movies and can take your dose of jumpscares very easily, this will just be a place full of cosplayers to get pictures with. But if you can’t stand scary stuff, you’ll actually enjoy this better (not getting a peaceful sleep is a bonus!).

In fact, these haunted houses are fun to go to with your friends or family who are scaredy cats. You probably won’t be shocked by the ghosts but you’ll totally get shocked by your faint-of-heart company’s screams. That’s what makes it all fun and worth it!

You’ll either get a free blood bag or a devil’s horn depending on which tickets you choose.

Come and enjoy these attractions with your friends while the tickets last. Get your tickets here before they sell out.

Have fun and Happy Halloween!
