With gadgets getting constant updates, it’s no surprise that most people are sitting on a pile of old phones, unused tablets or broken computers.
Some of us may even feel that it would be too sayang to simply get rid of unwanted electronics because we spent our hard-earned money on them.
But instead of hoarding away outdated technology like some silly cyber-dragon, why not use em’ to save some cash and make your mark to save the planet at the same time?
Throwing away old tech in the trash is a huge NO-NO!
Not only are electronic components non-biodegradable, but ‘e-waste’ contain toxic materials that are very harmful to the environment. Everyone is encouraged to dispose of unused or broken gadgets at proper collection and recovery facilities where they can safely be stripped down for parts, recycled and reused.
In fact, there are plenty of e-waste recycling centres you can visit to unload your e-waste for free listed on the Malaysian Department of Environment’s website.

But among the most rewarding ways to make use of old gadgets is to trade em’ in for new tech.
Tech companies like Acer reward customers for going green and embracing eco-friendly practices by offering programs that let us trade in our old devices to earn store credits and discounts to save on our next gadget upgrade.
In conjunction with their annual Acer Day celebration this 2022, Acer is inviting everyone to ‘Make Your Green Mark’ for sustainability and encouraging the public to make their own impact on saving the planet from e-waste.
Visit the Acer Day roadshow happening at Pavilion Bukit Jalil this 3 – 7 August and bring along any of your working and non-functioning tablets, laptops or desktops to trade em’ in for cash rebates of up to RM500 cash rebates to purchase a brand new Acer Aspire Vero laptop.
As part of the Acer Day festivities, there will also be a special ‘flash sale’ happening on Sunday (7 August) from 1pm to 3pm at Concourse, Pavilion Bukit Jalil where you can enjoy savings on top-of-the-line gadgets.
The first 100 customers will get a chance to purchase selected items for a special discount of up to 98% or take home a brand new Acer Nitro 5 laptop for just RM399 or an acerpure-F1 fan for only RM19.90!
