The Largest Underground Cellar In Malaysia Serves Impressively Good Drinks

I am the kind of person who does not like their drinks to taste like alcohol, who tears up at the smell of whiskey, and who prefers a cup of Ribena over a glass of red.
Yet, as I stood in the middle of the Lavo Gallery underground cellar sampling different kinds of imported French wines, champagnes, and gins, I came to a stark realization of both elation and despair: It’s not that I don’t like alcohol. I’ve just never tried good, expensive alcohol. And now that I have, I sincerely understand why some people can genuinely say they love the taste of alcohol.
Lavo Gallery is touted as a haven for those with a penchant for the finer things in life, and fine indeed it is. Expect an impressive selection of over 2,000 wines with labels and the like that you might not have seen before in Malaysia. You won’t find cheap soju or beer to knock back here.
Malaysia’s largest 11,000 sq ft underground cellar is strictly temperature controlled, reminiscent of the wine cellars in Bordeaux, France, known worldwide for the art of perfectly storing and preserving fine vintages. Lavo Gallery first opened its doors to the public in May 2022, with a very wide selection of fine wines and more.
Of course, this may all seem very daunting, but there are a team of sommeliers and consultants headed by Mr Dibin Chin, the 2nd Runner Up in Malaysia’s Best Sommeliers in 2021, who will be on-site to guide and assist you in discovering your next favourite wine and expanding your wine palate.
More than just wine
Lavo Gallery houses plenty of lables never seen before in Malaysia, such as the exclusive range of Generous Gin from France. The gin is extremely smooth, with an astounding fragrance that makes the most simple Gin & Tonic taste like a bouquet of flowers. Lovers of gin must give Generous Gin a go.
They are also a distributor for Clase Azul Tequila from Mexico, an exquisite line of tequila in gorgeous bottles that makes for an impressive gift. These tequilas are all aged for different lengths of time, from 8-months to a notable 5 years.

While the Lavo Gallery underground cellar houses all the specialty alcohol, Lavo also has a restaurant upstairs where you can wine and dine in a comfortable and entertaining environment.
Regardless of whether you’re a casual drinker or a committed wine connoisseur, the extensive and impressive alcohol selection is sure to please.
