McDonald’s latest update to their app is a feature called Order & Collect, which does exactly that.
In a nutshell, this new feature allows customers to order their meals ahead and pay on the app, then collect their order directly without needing to wait… for the most part.
Customers can pick 4 methods to collect their order:
1. Takeaway
Order on the app, then just walk up directly to the takeaway counter to pick up your order with your order number. You won’t even need to talk to anyone.
2. Dine-in
Walk into your favourite outlet, pick the best table, and have your meal delivered directly to you.
Yes, you can actually make McDonald’s feel more like a proper “sit down restaurant” with a server who brings the food right to your table instead of a fast food joint.
You won’t even need to wait in line or talk to anyone, either.
3. Drive-Thru
If you’ve always found it awkward to talk to a large screen with a disembodied voice to place your Drive-Thru order, then just order on a smaller screen (your phone).
The Drive-Thru option allows you to order ahead and collect directly from the Drive-Thru pickup window within 2 hours.
Simply let the drive-thru staff know that you have a Order & Collect order number, and you then you’ll have food in your lap in no time.
4. Drive-in
For a true throwback expereince, you can also have food delivered directly to your car. With Drive-in, instead of walking into the store to pick up the food yourself, you can have someone walk out with your food and deliver it directly to your car window.
Of course, this is only applicable for outlets that have designated parking spots, and you will need to have the car parked in the spot before placing your order. Another good news: you also will not need to speak to anyone!
Currently, the Order & Collect feature is available in most McDonald’s locations, but McDonald’s promises us that all outlets will have this feature soon enough.
Most outlets in the Klang Valley already have the service up and running though, but you will need to check the map of available stores on the app itself.
