As reported by Bernama, a woman started off her business journey with a capital of RM100 selling a popular frozen pastry dish from Indonesia called Risoles. Her business now earns around RM20,000 a month in profits.

Local Machang-born entrepreneur, Hassmira Che Omar @ Che Hassan, 34, said that the idea of selling the snack came from her spending time with her family while eating the risoles.

Risoles/Risol is an Indonesian snack with fillings like meat and veggies that is wrapped in a thin pastry, rolled onto some breadcrumbs and fried.

“At first, as the snack is not commonly known yet, I started selling it to my friends and neighbours in Banting, Selangor. I didn’t expect the snack to get a lot of attention afterwards” said the UMK Business and Entrepreneurship alumni.

She learned how to make the risoles from her sister in law, Evy Widiastuti, 40, who was from Indonesia.

Social media helped a lot in boosting her products from a small target audience to a bigger one, amplifying her sales and profits. Before having social media, she used to make around 100 to 500 packets of risoles a month.

Now, she successfully produces 6,000 to 10,000 packets of risoles a month in her factory in Jenjarom, Banting, Selangor to be marketed to 70 shops around the country, also with the help of some agents as well as stockists.

Currently having 7 workers under her business, she aims to boost her snack business more to help give more job opportunities for those who need them.

Also thanks to the Selangor Government Agency and Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), they also helped in expanding her local business more.

Now, her products come in different flavours from chicken, beef, cheesy chicken, cheesy beef and cheesy smoked beef.
