The Klang Valley has moved into Phase 3, meaning that more economic sectors including local tourism have reopened. Almost all eligible adults in the Klang Valley have also received two doses of their vaccinations as well.

After months and staying at home and not seeing friends and family, most of us are itching to go somewhere fun and just live again.

Pre-pandemic, we may have thought nothing of gathering a group of friends to visit hotspots like Melaka, Ipoh, or Penang. Post-pandemic, these tourism spots remain cautiously closed, while Klang Valley citizens must still adhere to the rule of no-interstate travel.

Yet that doesn’t mean that we should continue to despair. In fact, Selangor itself has plenty of beautiful locations that are perfect for a break away from the confines of the urban prison!

Check out these 5 hidden gems perfect for a weekend getaway:

1. Carpe Diem, Serendah

Carpe Diem, Serendah is located a few kilometers from Serendah Town, about 30 minutes drive away from KL City. Touted as kampung-style living, it features chalets set within a fruit orchard. The simple and idyllic life so close to nature promises to be a stark contrast against the hectic business of urban living.

Not only will you get to sample local fruits and vegetables fresh from the orchards, but you can also visit, feed, and pet the variety of animals kept on the premises, such as adorable rabbits, goats, and chickens!

2. Sri Damai Resort, Kalumpang

Sri Damai Resort is located in Kalumpang, about 40 minutes away from KL City.

The biggest draw of the resort is the nearby river, which provides water for a children’s swimming pool in the resort as well as a fishing pool for those who may enjoy catching rare species of fish such as kelah and baung.

Additionally, those seeking a little more thrill can take up water cycling and ride an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicles) through the jungle.

Naturally, this place also has an abundance of fresh local fruits and produces, as well as cute animals for the kids to admire.

3. Taman Eko Rimba Komanwel Resort, Rawang

Taman Eko Rimba Komanwel Resort is located within the Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve, just a little past Rawang, about 30 minutes away from the city.

Taman Eko Rimba Komanwel Resort is actually a campsite, with tall trees offering shade and a waterfall to splash about in. Also available are activities such as kayaking, jungle trekking, mountain biking, and more.

The jungle park is ideal for those who seek to get their hands a little dirty and lose themselves to fresh air and nature. Call up your family, grab (or rent) some tenting supplies, and enjoy a weekend of barbecues, cold showers at a waterfall, and unbeatable fresh air.

4. Bonda Valley (Rumah Hutan Bonda), Batang Kali

Bonda Valley is located about an hour’s drive from Petaling Jaya. The large traditional Malay chalets are modern and sleek, like a secret haven in the middle of nature.

Touted as a therapeutic experience to ease your mind, it mainly offers a place to unwind and relax. There are spa treatments, meditation rooms, and zen gardens.

5. PulaiThree, Kuala Kubu Bharu

PulaiThree is a perfect weekend getaway in Kuala Kubu Bharu Town, nestled between the rainforest and privately-owned hillside.

It features an open concept design so guests can look out at the fantastic, seemingly endless horizon through the thick nest of trees. Swim with a view of the treetops in the swimming pool, then lounge around and barbecue into the beautiful night, or whip up a whole dinner meal with their fully-furnished kitchen.

Experience it all with guaranteed privacy, as the whole place will be yours with no other facilities shared in the 2-bedroom villa.
