FamilyMart’s New Vending Machine In Malaysia Is Giving Us Real Japan Slice-of-life Vibes

FamilyMart Malaysia just dropped their latest “product”– a smart kiosk vending machine that dispenses all your Famima favourites, from onigiris and sandos to desserts and deliciously cold drinks!
This will be FamilyMart’s first-ever FamilyMart Mini, but they promise that there will be more locations coming soon.
Additionally, you won’t need to dig around for cash and struggle with the machine not accepting your RM5 notes, because the ‘smart’ in smart kiosk means that everything is contactless and cashless. The machine will accept credit and debit cards and also e-wallet payments!
Anyone mildly interested in Japanese living knows how ubiquitous their vending machines are. There’s one every half a block, selling everything from regular cold canned drinks, hot canned soup, and even chocolate-covered insects.
Their vending machines are kind of like our convinience stores, minus the human interaction!

Japanese vending machines are also very well taken care of, with rarely anything being ‘out of stock’ due to how regularly they are restocked.
Since FamilyMart is a Japanese brand, it seems like they’re trying to upgrade the appeal of vending machines in Malaysia, just like how they are in Japan.
This one is located within a Shell on Karak Highway 2, but we hope to see more at locations near us!
