Smiles were abound this weekend at Rumah Destiny Children’s Home in Gombak as the Christmas wishes of the young residents came true after a visit by some unexpected guests.
Senior Minister (Economy & International Trade and Industry) and Gombak Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and his family showed up at the home for children, bearing gifts, treats and songs.
Prior to the visit, the MP’s family members had requested for the children’s Christmas wish lists, which included an array of requests from dolls to accessories. Each family member then decided to contribute one gift with a handwritten note.
We received a very special Christmas wish list last week from the children of Rumah Destiny in Gombak. There are 12 children in this home, so we each decided to contribute one gift from the wish list with a hand written card.

The gifts continued on with a special lunch for the children as well as a cheery presentation of Christmas carols.
In a Facebook post, the overjoyed Rumah Destiny Children’s Home thanked the MP and his family for their kindness and noted that this was the first Christmas celebration for most of their children.
Azmin Ali also took to social media to share snapshots of the heartwarming visit and reminded everyone that “in a multiracial society, we learn to live harmoniously in diversity.”
Christmas is a celebration of togetherness, giving and looking out for one another.
