Proton Malaysia has launched its official website selling pre-owned vehicles.

According to the national carmaker, the Proton Certified Pre-Owned (PCPO) website allows users to browse through used car stocks nationwide, or even trade-in their very own cars for special deals on a brand new Proton model.

The website serves as a platform for both buyers and sellers to trade their vehicles, however, the website currently features stock from 36 dealers nationwide.

First, interested customers can visit the PCPO website (HERE) and browse through the options available.

Vehicles listed on the official Proton site come with an extended one-year warranty for the engine and transmission as well as a free service, redeemable up to six-months after the date of registration.

Those who seek to trade-in their vehicles have to meet a list of qualifying physical and financial criteria, as well as perform the necessary steps to prepare their trade-in stock for sale.

The trade in vehicles must be less than 7 years old with under 130,000km covered. Cars with flood or major accident damage that may affect the structural integrity are not accepted.

Proton also stipulates that each car listed on the site undergoes a comprehensive 201-point inspection and is given a new battery, fresh engine oil and an oil filter.

The good news is that cars from other brands can also be traded-in via the PCPO website and thoroughly inspected, but they will not receive an extended warranty.

Why a Proton used car website now?

The idea came after Proton witnessed its sales growing in 2019 and soon realised that processing customer trade-in cars efficiently was key to maintaining the growth rate.

Thus, the Proton Used Car Management (UCM) division was established with the goal of growing a network of dealers to sell used cars alongside new ones. The long term goal is to stabilise and boost resale values of Proton cars.

Proton’s PCPO is the next step for the company to build a holistic ecosystem. As we continue to offer new and improved products, we also want to attract those interested in purchasing a used car and offer a quick and easy way for customers to trade-in their current vehicles.

Proton Edar CEO Roslan Abdullah also hopes that by launching an official used car website, Proton can see a rise in prices for all their models, thereby “making it easier for customers to obtain competitive financing rates and raising trade-in values when they want to buy a new car.”

We’ll see how Proton’s plan plays out, but those interested in a reliable used car website can head on to
