It’s not often that we hear of tales that give us faith in humanity but the mysterious Madam W is definitely one that warms our hearts.

Though she passed away in 2013, her spirit remains unwaveringly magnanimous as her donations to orphanages since her passing has amounted to a whopping RM1.1 million.

Who is Madam W?

Honestly, no one knows.

The trustee of her last will and testament Rockwills Trustee Bhd states that her identity remains undisclosed due to confidentiality.

The woman simply does not want to be known, but lets her act of charity speak for itself, even years after she’s been gone.

What we do know about her is that prior to her death, she bequeathed a portion of her 6-million-ringgit estate to several orphanages in her last will and testament.

However, the way she did it is both admirable and incredibly clever.

Making lives better, even in death

Though Rockwills Trustee admits that while leaving money to charity in one’s will has been gaining popularity over the years, Madam W’s donation is certainly an unusual case.

When Madam W wrote her will, she had wished to do something with her wealth for orphans. She didn’t want to stop at distributing part of her estate for orphanages upon her demise. She wanted more than that – make her money work for the benefit of orphans.

Azhar Iskandar Hew, CEO Rockwills Trustee Bhd to NST.

By instructing in her will that a portion of her estate be held in trust for the sole purpose of investment, in which the earnings are given to orphanages, it is a perpetual act of charity.

This means that her donations are given to orphanages annually and will seemingly never end.

CEO Rockwills Trustee Bhd told NST that this is a well-formulated estate plan that ensures wealth distribution to deserving segments of society.

This year alone, Madam W has donated nearly RM190,000 to 20 orphanages which include Good Samaritan Home, Rumah Bakti Dato’ Harun (Pertubuhan Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Selangor), House of Joy and Desa Amal Jireh.

During the trust donation presentation ceremony at Menara AmFirst,Petaling Jaya on Monday, 13 August, it was revealed that each orphanage received RM9,465.20, that would benefit 1,100 orphans.
