The impact of Covid-19 spares no one as iconic Malaysian actress and singer Adibah Noor revealed that she was forced to sell her house and pawn her jewellery to make ends meet.

The 49-year-old actress made the sad revelation on Twitter after receiving numerous messages asking for financial assistance during these tough times.

In a series of videos, the Adibah Noor admits that artists who work in front of the camera or on the stage look like they have glamorous lives, but the reality is different.

The reality is that during the MCO, I had no job at all that meant I had no income. But I am not ashamed to admit that I have sold off many things – I sold my house and even pawned off my jewellery.

She continued on to explain that during the Recovery MCO (RMCO) job offers have been few and far between with payments much lower than pre-pandemic times.

But she still accepts what comes her way, as long as she gets some income.

I am not complaining or sharing to get your pity. I am just informing you the truth of my own situation and I am so very sorry that I can’t help those who come to me asking for financial assistance.

Adibah’s revelation comes as a shock to Malaysians who have seen her charming antics on screen since 1995 as she has starred in some of Malaysia’s best films such as Sepet and Talentime, as well as the popular educational series Oh My English!

Understanding that times are hard for everyone, she has been helping whenever she can – mostly by showing support to small businesses on her social media that reach her 570,000 followers.

I am so very sorry that I can’t help out others because I have to help myself. I pray that we can all make a living and may God ease all our endeavours.
