With the Hari Raya Haji (Hari Raya Aidiladha) falling on a Friday this year, Malaysians are looking at a leisurely three-day weekend.
However, this also means the ubiqitious highway jam during the balik kampung rush as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) expects two million vehicles to be on the highways from Wednesday (29 July) until this Sunday (1 August).
To mitigate the traffic, the major highway operators have released the Time Travel Advisory (TTA) for Malaysians to follow this weekend.
PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS)
For journey from 29 July:
- Kuala Lumpur/Selangor to Perlis, Kedah, Penang, North Perak & Johor: before 9am.
- Other destinations: after 2 pm.
For return journey on 1 – 3 August:
- Towards Kuala Lumpur/Selangor: before 9am

Reload lanes at toll plazas are also closed, so highway users have to ensure they have sufficient balance in their Touch‘n Go card before beginning their journey.
Highway users can also utilise the PLUS pre-order meal-takeaway service by ordering online (HERE) to reduce their waiting time.
East Coast Expressway (E8)
This travel advisory includes Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK), East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) and East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2).
For journey from 29 July:
- Kuala Lumpur/Selangor to Pahang: 10am – 1pm OR 8pm – 11pm
- Kuala Lumpur/Selangor to Terengganu/Kelantan: 6am -10am OR 5pm – 8pm
For the return journey on 1 – 2 August:
