#Fight4OurPlanet Photo Challenge Addresses Global Climate Change By Planting Trees

Photos of people planting trees with the hashtag #Fight4OurPlanet has populated Instagram, in an online campaign meant to address the seriousness of global climate change and the simple solution of planting a tree.
What you need to know: #Fight4OurPlanet is a campaign co-organized by the National Patriots Association, National Monument, Nature Education Society (NEST), Free Tree Society, and Leo Burnett Malaysia. It was kick-started with 25 notable Malaysian influencers in an attempt to garner more attention for the good cause.
Why it matters: The climate crisis has been an unavoidable concern in recent years as the world goes through extreme weather and rising global temperatures. The year started with massive forest fires in multiple parts of the world, including the Amazon rainforest and most of Australia. Now, with the annual haze lurking across the sea again, Malaysia needs all the help we can get.
Who said what: The Fight4OurPlanet campaign used the symbol of national war monuments to tap into people’s national pride to make saving the planet a patriotic act.
As our forefathers fought for our country, it’s now on us to fight for our planet.

What’s next: The campaign is still ongoing together with a social challenge inviting everyone to plant a tree and tag 4 other friends to do the same. Malaysia has pledged to plant 100 million trees by 2025, and with the help of every Malaysian, it can be done.
