The sign language proficient, teachers, interpreters, and the deaf have come up with a short video containing vital information for others with hearing disabilities.Â
The videos were voluntarily produced containing important information like reminding people to stay at home and informing them of measures that can be taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19. These videos were then shared on Malaysian Sign Language – Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram.
The project, named the #SIGNONCAMPAIGN, was spearheaded by Mohd Armi Rusli, Facebook page admin and founder of #SIGNON, who explained that the aim of the videos was to simply spread awareness.
He said anyone can take part and even uploaded a video of himself signing “Assalamualaikum. Please, stay at home. Thank you. Bye!†for those who don’t know how to sign but are interested in taking part.
The campaign has been well received by their Facebook followers and has seen people from all walks of life taking part, including children.
