Global streetwear giant Vans had teamed up with a Malaysian graphic designer to produce some sweet new gear!

Kuala Pilah-born Kide Baharudin first came into the fashion scene after winning the Vans Asia Custom Culture contest in 2017 as well as making illustrated posters for the House of Vans Asia Tour.

Taking inspiration from his peaceful yet vibrant hometown in Negeri Sembilan, the Vans X Kide Collection show’s off the spirited atmosphere of the simple Malaysian way of life with its richly colorful hand-painted designs.

When I’m cycling in my hometown, I always love observing the small village where I grew up. I like to imagine how the place looked back in the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s. I try to find the story through my parents’ childhood. Then I’ll illustrate this in my paintings.

The head-to-toe collection comes in the form of Van’s signature Authentic SF and Slide-On shoes, a cap, some shirts and shorts, and even slip-on sandals.

Kide says that he was beyond excited to illustrate the country’s culture and history onto apparel pieces as a way to teach the youngins about Malaysia’s local heritage.

If you’d like to check out Kide’s rad collection, as far as we’ve checked it’s now only available for purchase on Van’s international online stores and will be coming to Malaysia this May.
