Feeling tired? The culprit could be in your bed
How many times have people asked if you got out of the wrong side of bed when you’re having a bad day?
Well, they might not be too far off from the truth.
Most people take their mattresses for granted, not seeing the need to switch to a new one until it has literally fallen apart.
The truth is that most people experience less-than-perfect sleep, instead choosing to “make up” for it with silk sheets, lavender lotion, or a 24/7 aircond.
Of course, all those things sound absolutely amazing, but a lot of times that’s just like putting bread into overcooked rice if your mattress itself is making your sleep restless.

If your mattress is older than a decade, you should definitely replace it.
We get it, the asian way is “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke”.
However, most mattresses, as a rule, do not last over 8 years.
1. It loses its support
You sleep on it everyday, so it will naturally sag and breakdown with time.
Your bed also breaks down faster with repeated use, so if you like to lie in bed doing things or if you share your bed, you will need to get it replaced even more often.
2. You wake up sore
Surprisingly, you should actually aim to wake up like a Disney princess, where you smile and stretch as you get out of bed.
If you’re waking up with back pains and a stiff neck, you should rethink your mattress.
3. It can literally trigger allergies
Each day, you shed dead skin cells into the bed. This becomes food for the little creepy dust mites living in between your sheets, uninvited.
If you suddenly develop allergies or itches, it could be the proteins in dust mite feces accumulating in your mattress.
While you could find some solace in cleaning it, you could also just… throw it away and get a new one.
So even though your mattress looks fine, you’re probably not doing your body any favours and missing out on truly restful sleeps.
