Best Rendition of Negaraku you’ve ever heard

Celcom x Axiata just released their Merdeka video: Getaran Pertama today (August 30), and it is phenomenal.
The 7-minute video brings us on a journey leading to the formation of Getaran Pertama; the choir who officially sang Malaysia’s very first national anthem on Merdeka Day 62 years ago.

The moving video paints a picture of the challenges faced by two music-loving friends Ahmad Merican (Music Supervisor Radio Malaya) and Tony Fonseka (Music Conductor) in 1957.
As they were assigned by our very first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman to form a Merdeka Choir.

In a short period of time, they needed to assemble people of different races, find a suitable place to rehearse and unite them to sync harmoniously together.
There were even times they were on the verge of giving up.
But they didn’t.

Following the video closely, you can feel each moment moving you intensely.
There’s not a second that passes by that is neither informative nor emotional.

When they finally do come together to sing, we can assure you, there is no other better version of the Negaraku anthem you have ever heard in your life.
Listening to them singing resonates the sense of unity and love we have for each other.

Lastly, the video pays tribute to all those that have made this choir come to life.
Truly, reminiscing the true essence of patriotism.
