The elderly can now get someone to teman them run errands

Last November, Dr Sazlina Kay decided to set-up an e-hailing company primarily targeted to help out women, elderly and differently-abled, called MakCik Travels.
Unlike other female e-hailing rides like Riding Pink and Ladies Only Riders and Drivers (LORD), MakCik Travels offers a female chaperoning service called MakCik Chaperone.
Not that kind of ‘chaperone’ guys.
They provide a legitimate, caring companionship service for the elderly or women who are afraid of going out alone.
Time consuming chores such as picking up your children from boarding schools or accompanying your ill grandmother for her routine dialysis can be out-sourced to these helpers.
Their rates start from as low as RM30 for the first hour, and RM10 for each subsequent hour.
Their set up is perfect for both the career woman who needs their family tended to, and also to the elders who live alone and want some company.
MakCik Travels offer their services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Though they can only be contacted from 8am to 11pm daily.
They primarily use WhatsApp because it has a “more human touchâ€, and their founder believes it helps them cater to the needs of customers. MakCik Travels can also be reached through their Facebook and website.
Currently, they have over 90 female drivers and 10 chaperones who are thoroughly vetted by this Ampang-based company.

Other services that they offer range from transport to and from KLIA airport and also a sightseeing service to destinations like Putrajaya and Melaka.
Seems tantalizing, no? At least we now have someone to help out during those swamped times!
