Abuse of any kind is no joke, and neither is addiction.

Gambling addiction is an impulse-control disorder, which means that the addict is unable to control the impulse to gamble, even if there are severe known negative consequences.

As long as the activity of gambling causes any problem that disrupts your life, that is considered a gambling problem.

These gambling problems are very often associated with other behavior or mood disorders and substance abuse issues.

Addicts will do whatever they can to reach what they crave, even if that means hurting people they love.

Gambling addiction can be resolved with help. Addicts must first recognize their own problems and take responsibility for it.

Family members or friends are advised to not loan money to addicts as they can easily slip back into the dangerous habit. Instead, support the addict emotionally while they enter rehab.

If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction and is seeking treatment, you can walk in to any government clinic or hospital to seek help.
