Avengers: Endgame earns USD1.2b in 5 days
Avengers: Endgame has shattered almost every single box office record for an opening weekend.
It earned USD 1.2 billion (or RM4.96 billion) in just five days.
Of that, USD 350 million was earned in the United States and USD 859 million internationally. Both numbers are record-breaking, too.
The previous record for an opening weekend was held by Avengers: Infinity War (2018) which took 11 days to reach the USD 1 billion mark.
It then stopped at number 4 on the list of highest grossing movies.
So, it’s still anyone’s guess whether Endgame will still overtake the all-time highest grossing movie to-date, Avatar (2009), which earned USD 2.79 billion over 34 weeks.
Additionally, a sequel to Avatar is expected to hit theaters in 2020.
In the meantime, according to Exhibitor Relations, with Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has earned over $19.9 billion (so far).
Mighty Marvel. Over the course of 22 MCU films, including $1.2B from AVENGERS: ENDGAME this week, the Marvel collective has grossed $19.9B…and counting.
