A generous putu mayam seller surprised some motorists who were sheltering under a bridge with free food.

Threads user @sarahjunid wrote that she was sheltering from the rain when she thought about how hungry she felt.

Just at that moment, an elderly man selling putu mayam appeared on his bike in the rain and started giving away the dessert to all the motorcyclists there for free.

Putu mayam or idiyappam is a string hopper delicacy made using rice flour that is pressed into thinly-shaped noodles. It is eaten with either curry, coconut shavings, brown sugar or palm sugar.

The kind uncle, wearing a yellow raincoat, rode off into the pouring rain after generously giving away food.

Sarah was so touched and prayed for the uncle to get home safely. She hoped that he’ll be blessed with good health and abundant blessings.

In the comments, many praised the uncle for his giving nature and wished him well. A Threads user pointed out that he probably gave away the food because he couldn’t sell them in that rainy weather and didn’t want to waste it all.

Another Threads user claimed the uncle frequently rides around Brickfield and Telawi Bangsar. They added that his putu mayam with chicken curry is a must-try.
