Singer Jaclyn Victor was praised for her rendition of the Mandarin song Chong Bai at the Singer 2026 – Malaysia competition. The song was originally sung by Malaysian Mandopop artist Fish Leong.

Victor said her heart was racing because initially she expected to be the fifth person to perform.

She called the song gorgeous and instantly lovable, expressing hope that the audience would enjoy her rendition.

Singer 2026 – Malaysia first aired on 30 May 2026, and features six Malaysian vocal powerhouses namely, Jaclyn Victor, Priscilla Abby, Vanessa Reynauld, Geraldine Gan, Uriah See and Nicole Lai. Each singer brings their own performance style and strengths to the stage.

Based on videos shared online, Victor had prepared ahead by learning Mandarin with her daughter, Moli, under the tutelage of Kunkwan International Mandarin Training Centre. Kunkwan has taught several local public figures and celebrities such as singer Faizal Tahir and Ozlynn, and Khairy Jamaluddin.

In one of the clips, Victor showed her dedication to get the pronunciation of Mandarin words correctly while singing a song titled Wan An Bao Bei (Good Night Baby).

Her efforts evidently paid off since netizens loved her rendition. They admired her courage to sing in a foreign language on stage.

A Facebook user noted that the song Chong Bai showed Victor’s vocal strength while another person suggested Victor to try songs by Taiwanese singer A-Lin since her sound is more westernised.

Singer 2026 – Malaysia airs every Saturday at 8.30pm on Astro AEC (Channel 306), Astro GO, On Demand, and Sooka.
