Golden Screen Cinemas is a well-known film exhibitor in Malaysia. They have been in the top rankings of the cinema industry for a long time now and recently they have taken movie time one step further with the launch of its biggest cinema outlet at the brand-new IOI City Mall 2 (East).
This GSC outlet has a total of 26 screens and a full range of lifestyle options.
It was launched on 29 May and is now open to the public.
According to Golden Screen Cinemas CEO Koh Mei Lee, with a total of 55 theatres around the country, GSC has had a successful start to 2023, and more expansion is in the works.
TRP had the opportunity to visit the GSC IOI City Mall 2 and here is why we think it is one of the best cinemas in the Klang Valley.
Introduction of IMAX Laser Hall
This new outlet offers all movie formats including IMAX with Laser, 4DX, D-BOX, and Dolby Atmos with ScreenX and BIG halls coming soon.
There is something for everyone to enjoy, be it live concerts, vibrant animations, or action-packed movies.
As moviegoers ourselves, we would recommend to at least once experience the IMAX with laser.
This new technology allows moviegoers to experience sharper and crisper visuals, making one feel very connected to the movie scenes.
To add on the experience, the Dolby Atmos sound system that is fitted in the IMAX Laser Hall gives a better sense of the surrounding sounds. Even a pin drop sound can be heard in a crystal-clear manner.
All in all, it is the best movie watching experience one can ask for.
The Largest Play Park Hall
Parents with young kids usually avoid going to the cinemas as it would be a hassle to handle the kids and watch a movie at the same time.
However, with the Play Park Hall, parents can now enjoy the movie in a comfortable setting while their children enjoy playtime outside and inside the hall.
This facility is included with the hall’s movie admission or parents can also pay for the kids to have fun at the Play Park while they watch a movie at any of the other halls.
As for the safety of the children, there is always five caretakers stationed at the Play Park.
The Play Park consists of a fun climbing structure called the Soda Can, a ball pit, and an interactive play wall by Champs, suitable for children below five.
For kids from 6-12 years old, there is a Popcorn Tower which comes with the biggest slide within a cinema. The highlight of this slide is that not only the kids may enjoy it but the parents too.
Amenities include nursing rooms, kid-friendly restrooms and changing rooms. Tickets cost between RM32 and RM122.
Premier Class Halls
This hall is ideal for movie buffs as it provides a comfortable movie experience with cushy seats. The two newly-renovated Premier halls have dining and entertainment options.
There is a private location to enjoy meals outside the hall or the choice to eat at your assigned seats in the hall, as well as free use of a dart board and pool table. Tickets start at RM80 each.
Happy Food Co.
Happy Food Co. offers a variety of exquisite specialty milkshakes and delectable light appetisers.
We had the opportunity to try out their popcorns and milkshakes and our verdict? Must try.
Keepsake
Also available here are movie memorabilia for purchase. There is something for everyone, whether you are a Marvel fan, DC fan or Transformers fan.
Verdict?
This cinema definitely takes movie date to a whole new level.
