Local rapper Caprice (real name Ariz Ramli) promised to give away RM10,000 worth of petrol to the public on 23 September.

All they have to do is to bring their vehicles – bus, van, car or motorcycle – to Petronas Jalan Jelatek II, Kampung Datuk Keramat in Kuala Lumpur around 2.30pm.

The first ten recipients will also receive limited edition merchandise, a cap or shoes from the rapper.

However, Caprice also reminded Muslim men to perform their Friday prayers first before queuing for free petrol. He said he would turn away anyone queuing for the free petrol during prayer hours.

Netizens were grateful for his gift and wished him and his family all the best.

It caused a traffic jam

Hundreds of people happily turned up to fill their vehicles with free petrol on that day.

While it was a kind deed, the ‘giveaway event’ soon caused a bad traffic jam on the road and inside the petrol station.

The traffic mayhem was captured on video and uploaded to TikTok.

A man in the video could be heard complaining about the traffic caused by Caprice’s free petrol giveaway and claimed that the clout chasing inconvenienced others.

Caprice apologises online

Through an Instagram post, Caprice apologised to all road users at Titiwangsa, Setiawangsa, and Keramat until Ampang for the traffic congestion he caused that day.

He explained that he didn’t expect hundreds of people to turn up and cause havoc on the road until it reached KLCC.

Although he had help from RELA and the police, they couldn’t manage the heavy traffic.

As the host, I’m sorry.

Additionally, the petrol station also ran out of petrol and had to be closed temporarily although there was still a long queue.

With the petrol station closed, Caprice expressed regret that some government servants, such as nurses and soldiers, didn’t get the opportunity to fill their vehicles.

He decided to hold another free petrol giveaway just for government servants and delivery riders in Kuala Lumpur and Penang next week.

Please pray for my team to get many things to treat the rakyat.
