A desperately single man was recorded on video beating up a female matchmaking agent inside an elevator in Kuala Lumpur when the service failed to find him a ‘match’ after six months.

CCTV footage of the incident shows the man hitting the woman on the head and kicking her inside the lift before dragging her out by her hair.

According to Cheras Police, the woman suffered bleeding injuries to the head and received treatment at the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital (HCTM) there.

Their investigation found that the man’s rage was triggered by a misunderstanding between him and the woman who was employed with a matchmaking site called ‘Matrimony’ and had paid RM2,500 in order for them to find him a mate.

Police identified the suspect as a “public servant” and said that he would be “called to provide a statement to assist investigations.”

The case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code (Act 574) for voluntarily injuring another person. If found guilty the suspect may face jail time of up to a year, a RM2,000 fine or both
