A recent tweet by comedian Harith Iskander has brought to light a rather brilliant short film documenting this plight women have – and just in time for Halloween.
Truth is scarier than fiction
The short one-minute 21-second video titled “Benda Paling Cuak” (The scariest thing) was produced by local video content creators Kualitea Productions.
Since it first debuted on Twitter on 10 October, it’s received over 100,000 views and over 3,000 retweets.
Although netizens were generally quite amused by the video, there were still some who didn’t quite understand.

And for a change, instead of being mansplained, a woman had to explain the underlying message:
She meant that it’s better to meet a ghost than to meet a male stranger in the dark night.

Not all netizens were left in the dark with the video’s intent.
Not gonna lie. When i first saw the ghost passed, “kalau laki lagi takut” is what crossed my mind. 😂

Some even said they would rather be disturbed by a ghost than a man.
This netizen joked about how receiving nine missed calls and a stern message from his mum is scarier.
If you think ni benda paling cuak, surely tak pernah kena 9 missed calls + 1 mesej keras dari mak.

In general though, the video has received much praise not only for its poignant message, but its acting and cinematography as well.
Well done and “KualiTea” indeed!
